“Two people who stole tourist belongings in Karimunjawa, Jepara (Central Java), were caught by residents and victims. Both of them disguised as tourists and took away an Acer Aspire V5-132 notebook unit, a number of luxury gadgets, and a DSLR camera.
The two perpetrators are Ahmad Safaat (44), a resident of Hamlet Kebon Timur, Kringan Village, RT 05 RW 05, Boyolali Regency, and Tri Setyawan (44), a resident of Bener Village, RT 03 RW 01, Tegalrejo District, Yogyakarta.
Jepara Deputy Chief of Police, Kompol Champion Silalahi said the perpetrator was arrested on Saturday (23/5/2015) by residents and also the victim. The two perpetrators of the theft were then handed over to the Karimunjawa Police, and then taken to the Jepara Police by using the Express Bahari Fast Motorboat.
The suspect was caught after taking action at around 03.30, at the Arya Langon homestay, Kemojan Village, Karimunjawa District. One of the suspects, Tri Setyawan, revealed that he and his partner carried out the theft using a rented motorbike. He wandered around looking for homestays whose doors were open until late at night, including at Arya Langon’s homestay.
“We entered the house with the door open. On a number of tables lay electronic goods belonging to tourists. We easily took the item because both the guard and the owner were asleep,” he said when questioned by police. (Py)”
