Suara Merdeka is a daily newspaper published in Semarang City, Central Java. This daily only has a limited circulation in the Central Java area. Suara Merdeka Daily is currently the newspaper with the largest market share in Central Java. Suara Merdeka has routine activities held in the Karimun Jawa Islands, namely fishing waves at the “Regent of Jepara Cup XII”, which is an activity that is held once a year in collaboration with the Jepara Regency Government.
For 2014, fishing competitions will be held on Saturdays and Sundays, November 15-16, 2014. The competition is for a trophy and a total prize of IDR 40 million. Registration opens on September 29 and ends on November 5, 2014 at 15.00. Registration for this fishing competition can be done through Prio Santosa at Suara Merdeka Editorial at Jl Raya Kaligawe Km 5 Semarang, with phone number (024) 6581925 or at 6580900 during office hours.
The registration fee for this fishing competition in Karimun Jawa is Rp. 1,100,000 per participant. This fee is used to purchase tickets for the Kartini 1 fast boat with the Semarang-Karimunjawa PP route. In addition, participants will also get lodging facilities, local transportation in Karimunjawa, meals, boat rental, bait, and other necessities related to the competition. The number of participants is limited, because the total capacity of the Kartini 1 ship is 156 people. For more information, please contact Sri Mulyadi (Mbah Mul) 08122803339.
As in previous years, participants will depart by fast boat Kartini 1 from Tanjung Emas Port, Semarang. The trip from Semarang to Karimunjawa is on Saturday and takes about 3.5 hours. Estimated arrival at Karimun Jawa Island is at 13.00 followed by lunch. After that, all participants were immediately dispatched to the fishing location. On Sunday at 12.00, all participants must register their catch to the committee. After lunch and the presentation of prizes, Sunday at 13.30 the group returned to Semarang.
Fishing locations are usually at a depth of about 30-50 meters, and the boats used are usually not moored on the seabed, so hopefully they won’t damage the coral reefs. The timing of the 2014 competition was deliberately chosen on 15 and 16 November. Because November is related to the fishing season in Karimunjawa. Generally, the waters in Karimun Jawa are shady or there are only small waves. In addition, on that date also does not coincide with the full moon, so it is a pretty good time for fishing. For bait, the committee only provides fresh and chopped squid. Because the fish in Karimun Jawa usually quite like it.
